We are sad to have to share with the community the news that we have lost a beloved member. We have received word that Paddy passed away last Sunday. She was a valuable member of the community and will be much missed.

Please share your fondest memories of Paddy here. Out of respect for her family and friends, we ask that you refrain from discussing the details of Paddy's death. You may share your feelings and your memories, but please be sensitive to each other and to Paddy's memory. Out of concern for the community, posts that do not conform with this request will be removed.

Also, we're disabling the signature function as a sign of respect until further notice. We thank you for your understanding in this matter.

If you feel that you need to talk to someone about this or any other matter please phone the following numbers:
USA: National Youth Crises Hotline 1-800-448-4663
UK: Samaritans 08457 90 90 90 or Childline 0800 1111
ROI: Samaritans 1850 60 90 90

The Befrienders website has information about depression, bullying and other issues. It also has contact numbers for support lines around the world. You can find them here www.befrienders.org

Update 07/12/06: We would like to share with you, the remembrance card that was sent to many, but not all, of Paddy's friends after the funeral. It would be near impossible to physically send one out to all who would like one, but we can share it with you here. Be forewarned, it may get you emotional. We will never forget you, Paddy.

And please note: since there are still posts trickling in to this thread, just remember to disable your signature by UNchecking the little box that says "attach signature" when you make your post. Thanks.

I only knew Paddy from her posts here and on LJ, and a few chats in the chatroom. However, this was more than enough to impress me as she never failed to remember a birthday or post a review for a friend's fanwork. I remember the card she sent me at Christmas with the wonderful hand-drawn Christmas tree and I enjoyed her antics in chat - I remember one particularly bizarre conversation about unicorns and other magical creatures. My thoughts and prayers are with Paddy and her loved ones. We'll miss her dearly.

I first met Paddy in the Diggers thread. She was so enthusiastic and such a fab friend. I will treasure my pile of hand-made cards, and memories of MSN chats. My fondest memory of her will be the time I bought her EZBoard supporter membership so that she could have unlimited PMs. I had no idea she was a minor. She was so happy, her parents were so worried. I emailed her parents an introduction; explaining that I wasn't a weirdo. I hope it helped.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. Bless you, my friend.

ps: It took me forever to figure out how to turn off my siggie.

Paddy was one of the first people who acknowledged me here on Immeritus. She sent me my first PM offering me help on how to post a picture of my dogs.

I always enjoyed chats when she was present (especially with Micha!) as she could always make me laugh with her silliness. I loved trying to get her to speak French with me. It was great to see her trademark green in there.

This post in my LJ will always make me think of Paddy as her and Micha had an ongoing conversation that lasted for nearly two months.

Like moon and Star mentioned, I got a Christmas card from her too that is really very beautiful: I remember asking her if she'd made it herself as I was so impressed with it!

For any of her family or friends that might be reading this, my thoughts are with you. Love you, Paddy; you'll be missed.

ETA: I also had been thinking of the Christmas Pickle tradition and finally found the LJ post the discussion took plac eon. I will always think of Paddy now when I see my pickle tree ornament. This is the post.

Much like Tara, Paddy was one of the first people to talk to me here at Immy. She was kind and considerate and she loved making new members welcome. I always remember the Pumpkin conversation; I came in one night and it was all Paddy and Micha could talk about. They even had icons made up. When ever Paddy and Micha were in chat together you could always bet on having a great chat and a good laugh.

I feel honored having been given the chance to know Paddy. If her RLF (real life friends) and Family get a chance to read this, You are all in my thoughts and my prayers.
We've all lost a dear friend who will be greatly missed.

Paddy was also one of the first people I ever met in chat. Being from Europe we were often in chat together. I will miss her colourful writing and good-natured personality and great sense of humour.

I will miss her in chat, especially when both Paddy and Micha were in chat together. You knew there was gonna be fireworks. The pair of them had me in hysterics many times with many on Paddy's weird and wonderful conversation starters and typos. The most memorable conversation I remember was the one about the Pumpkin. The whole chat became consumed in taking sides over protecting the pumpkins or becoming a pumpkin stalker. I don't think I've ever laughed harder.

My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends and everyone who knew her. She will be sorely missed.

I didn't know Paddy very well, but I remember chatting with her in Immy Chat a few times. She seemed like a great person and our paths crossed a few times on the forums also. She gave me a good impression... Those who knew her very well, you are in my thoughts, hang in there, much love.

I met Paddy first in the Diggers threads, like Star. The German and Latin translations in the HP Thesaurus are pretty much all thanks to her; she even enlisted her dad's help with the Latin ones--she was so excited about that project! Somewhere along the line, as always happens at Immy, she adopted me as her Immy mom and I adopted her right back as my other Immy daughter (with Catzy). She was always willing to help and was ready with a quick laugh or words of comfort, even when she didn't know if she was saying or doing enough. She will be truly missed. My love, thoughts, and prayers are with her parents, family and friends.

I loved being in chat when Paddy and Micha were there. They always put a smile on my face with there silliness. Paddy was always kind and she was always there if you needed a friend. She never had a harsh word and always brought a smile to my face. She would help me understand German so I could talk to my daughter and when I was trying to find a place to get German things for Bri.

She will be missed and always loved. My prayers and and love go out to her family. I hope Paddy has finally found the peace she deserves.

Love you Paddy.

I didn't really get to know Paddy all that well, but whenever i got to chat with her in the chatroom or on MSN she was always a very intelligent and fun girl. It's really a shame to have lost her so young, for her mind truly could have changed the world for so many people.

May she find total peace in the afterlife, and continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew her.

I am very sorry to hear of the death of Paddy. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to meet her.

Nearly three years ago, a forum I moderate lost one of our members and I know how much it hurts, but also how much he is still alive in our hearts.

From what I read Paddy was so much a part of this community, and all the love and work she put into this community will live on.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

I first met Paddy in chat and it was she that first encouraged me to read fanfic. She had several recommendations from the Immy site that I really enjoyed. When I finally got a LJ, Paddy was one of the first to friend me and she was always so supportive in her responses to my posts. I loved to read about her school events and see the lovely outfits that she picked out and her pretty pictures.

Somehow in the cd exchange, Paddy did not receive her cd from me. She was so patient and understanding for my unending procrastination for resending. I finally copied it for her again on Friday of last week and had her envelope ready to mail. I am so sorry that I will never have the chance to send it to her.

Paddy, you are very loved and will be missed so much. Thank you for all the *hugs* you give me.

I'll always remember Paddy's kind and thoughtful reviews of my fanfiction, and the way no matter how down she felt, she always had encouragement and understanding to share with her friends. She spoke often of her family's love and concern for her. I'll never forget Paddy. She and her loved ones are constantly in my thoughts.

I met Paddy a couple of times in chat. She was very nice and made me laugh. Whenever I saw her little pumpkin icon on my MSN list it made me smile.

My thoughts are with her family and friends.

Peace be with you, Paddy.

I was so sad to see the news about Paddy. I am going to miss her very much. She was one of the first people I chatted with. She was so friendly and nice. Loved music and sharing new music. I learned about Sonata Arctica from her, Lara and Birdy. I made a DM mix for her but it refused to upload correctly so I never was able to send it. It's still on my computer, DM for Paddy.
I will never forget what a wonderful person Paddy was, what a great friend she was all of us.
Her family and all her friends, here and in rl, are in my thoughts.
