Welcome to Camp Immeritus!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to enroll your original HP Character in Wizarding Summer Camp! Yes, you read that right! This summer's RPG will be open only to original characters! If you do not have an original RPG Character and do not want to make one, but do want to play, please PM me, Sirius Star, with the character you'd like to play and why you wish to play that character. Maybe something can be worked out, but no promises.

Those of you who have been around a long time know that there was one point in time, ages ago, when we attempted an original character RPG but it did not get much play time and the game faded away. Since then, we have only used canon characters in our RPGs, even in the Immeritus Murder Parties, where the characters underwent strangely twisted transformations (Spleens anyone?). So we thought we'd give it another try.

In order to participate in this RPG, you must "register" your character and there are a few rules that we must insist upon in order to avoid the dreaded Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu syndrome.


Rule the First: All characters must pass through an application process.

Fill out the following form and PM it to me. Do NOT post any information in this thread until your character has been accepted into the camp. If you do so, your post will be deleted. Of course, feel free to ask any questions in this thread.

Rule the Second: The following limitations are being placed upon original characters:

1. Your character will be normal, even flawed. If the character you create is too perfect or extraordinary, we will ask you to modify him/her before we will accept your application.

2. If you want your character to have a pet, it can be a cat, rat, owl, or toad. If you want your character to have a specific wand, it cannot be the lost third phoenix feather wand or twin of the elder wand. It is just a wand.

3. Although we will allow you to be related to various wizarding families, be mindful of the timeline. This RPG will be set in the Summer of 1978, the Marauders have just graduated from Hogwarts and your characters must be attending Hogwarts and younger than sixteen. (This means you cannot be Harry's twin sister. However, you may be distantly related to the Potters, if you choose.)

Beyond the timeline restrictions, feel free to expand upon the HP universe or bend canon slightly. Again, if we think the character's family relationships are too perfect, we will ask you to rework them. Also, you DO NOT have to be related to a canon wizarding family. You may create your entire family if you wish.

A final point, if you have an original character that you have used in another RPG and you would like to enroll that character in this one, feel free to fill out the application. We may ask you to tweak the character slightly in order to fit him/her into our framework.


The Game

Contrary to popular belief, it is possible for us to play short RPGs. The Game timeline will only encompass ten days in the middle of Summer, 1978. With such a short timeline, we are hopeful that we can finish the game before the Fall Semester begins and many of our members return to the drudgery of homework.

We will begin accepting characters immediately and begin the game June 15. The nature of the game will allow us to begin play with any number of players.

Sirius Black will be played by a GM and he will be camp counselor (The person in charge of things.) He will be joined by Lily Evans, also played by a GM, if we have girl characters in the game.

Players will be asked to post at least every other day. If you do not post, a GM may puppet your character without warning in order to keep the game moving.

Nin, If I understand your question correctly, yes you may create a male OC. Any OC (original character) may participate.

In fact, I was just thinking, if I wasn't GMing, I would probably enroll an OFC from one of my HP fanfics.

Accepted Character:

Vlad Valerik is a jokester in his fifth year of Hogwarts. His favorite subject is Defense Against the Dark Arts, and he has a pet elf owl named Boris. He's originally from Russia, so he usually speaks with an accent. Free time is spent cooling down in detention or stealing from Slytherins. His wand has a dragon heartstring core. Vlad is also very excited for the upcoming Wizarding Summer Camp, and hopes he might find some new hobbies to get into.
(Additionally, very soon after his enrollment in Hogwarts, he became excellent friends with Sebastian Eliot. The two spend time in detention together, most likely plotting additional ways to get back in to detention.)

Accepted character:

Sebastian 'Seb' Eliot is a quiet, easy going guy with a taste for mischief...is it any wonder he and Vlad happen to be best friends as well as in the same year? He's often found reading a book if not in detention with Vlad. His favourite subject is transfiguration, and his wand is an oak one with unicorn hair. Has a pet tawny owl called Otto. Is attending camp under the excuse to keep Vlad company.

*sigh* I'm going to have to back out of this, guys. Looks like I'll be away during the first week of the RPG, and after that, my summer's a bit unpredictable as far as when I can get to a comp goes. I hate that; I was looking forward to this. Ah, well, y'all have load of fun for me!

Accepted Character:

Rowena Angell, is thoughtful, speaks her mind, and can be harsh sometimes. Her favorite subjects are Potions and Herbology, and she's been trying to get an apprenticeship under the school's mediwitch. Her father being a known Death Eater keeps people looking at her with suspicion, something that annoys her greatly. She has a large black owl named Nyx. She's a Ravenclaw. Her wand is 10" black palm with a diricawl feather core. Attending camp to have some extra time away from her father.

Additional: Met Vlad and Seb early on in their time at the school, and has tried largely unsuccessfully to keep them out of trouble ever since, sometimes getting dragged into it as well.

Sounds like lots of fun. Our vacation is scheduled way at the end of July, so I think I should be good to go on that front. I'm off to dig through old character development files, though I'm sorely tempted to create a character based on a 13 year old I know quite well.

Accepted Character:

Adaya Dalca was born in the Transylvanian Alps of Romania but has since then lived in the Southern United States and England. She has a mostly British accent with Romanian and Southern influence. Although she has a few Slytherin characteristics, she's a Gryffindor at heart. Her favorite subject is Transfiguration, but she also enjoys Charms and DADA. She's pretty laid-back, loves music, and definitely has a mischievous side to her. She can be rash and has a lot of nerve, but tends to be shy around people she's not that familiar with, so she's rather happy that her fellow Gryffindors Vlad (her boyfriend) and Seb will be at the camp as well. Adaya is a 15-year-old fifth year, just coming out of her fourth. Her wand is 13½" Willow with dragon heartstring core. As far as appearance goes, she has silky extremely black hair that flows to the small of her back, is pale in a pretty way, and has startlingly green eyes. Van Helsing, her black tabby, goes wherever she goes, so he'll be going to camp with her.
