This is a game we played on another board, and it's a lot of fun so I thought I'd share it here. It's basically a "The Monkey's Paw" sort of thing, where one person posts a wish (relating to Harry Potter of course) and the next person grants the wish but with a rather unpleasant side-effect, then posts a wish of their own.

Example:
Person 1: I wish I was a member of the Order of the Phoenix.
Person 2: Granted, but you are killed in the war. I wish I had a Firebolt.
Person 3: Granted, but after a week of owning it you crash into the Whomping Willow.

And so on.

My wish, to get things started: I wish I had an Invisibility Cloak.

Granted, but you use it once, take it off and can't see where you've put it, so you lose it.

I wish I had an owl!

Granted, but it always delivers mail to the wrong people, so you never get replies to any of your letters.

I wish I was a professional Quidditch player.

Granted, but during your first professional match, you take a bludger to the head and end up on the Janus Thickey ward in a bed next to Gilderoy Lockhart!

I wish I could be a student at Hogwarts.

Granted, but you get hit with the quaffle so much you have no idea who you are.

I wish Sirius would not have gone to the Ministry of Magic.

Granted, but then he would have ventured outside as Snuffles and got nabbed by animal control.

Tonks: Wish granted, but it backfires and hits you instead.

Granted, but you're Eloise Midgen, who turns out to be Filch's wife later.

I wish could somehow convince Harry to ask Sirius some pertinent family questions when they are sitting there all night waiting to find out about Arthur's health. (and that he'd answer them and we'd have more info)

Granted, but then JK has to re-write half the book, which means she postpones the release of HBP and we have to wait a year for updated!OotP with a less stupid Harry and then some more years for HBP just cause JKR gets mad she had to rewrite the book.

I wish Sirius and Remus got married.

Granted, but after a while they get in a fight, Remus bites Sirius, and he has a serious werewolf/animagus problem, so he ends up joining Alecto and Lockhart in the Janus Thickey ward, where Lockhart treats him as his new pet doggy, thinking he was a gift of his most devoted fan, Gladys Gudgeon.

Hee, Accio, we did get more creative than one line, didn't we? Anyway, kudos for new games!

Granted, but you'll lose your marbles due to the attack of 439867992857 particularly nasty Rabid Books of Rabbits, and spend the rest of your life as Alecto, Lockhart & Jlari's roommate in the crowded Janus Thickey ward.

I wish Snape was my boyfriend.

Granted, but then Fluffy is behind the door that you choose to open and each head gets an appendage. You end up in St. Mungo’s Creature Induced Bite ward in a bed next to the werewolf and he bites your remaining appendage at the full moon.

I wish I could spend a day in Snape’s pensieve to see what makes him tick.
