I'd have to go with Viggo or Billy or Hugh, they're all Siriusly awesome, but Gary Oldman was most definitely not the way I imagined Sirius. Though he is a very good actor, he hasn't got the right looks for him.

Viggo! (although Johnny Depp would have been good with his oh-so very sexy appearence ) But, especially Viggo when he is playing Aragorn- they're look-alikes I sware! Even my friends said that Viggo could have been Sirius Black! No complaints here

I don't know. I don't think any actor is as sexy as Sirius! I can't imagine anybody playing him well and actually looking right...especially not Gary Oldman - what was the director thinking??

Ive seen Johnny Depp's name tossed out alot on this thread and I completely agree. I never really thought about what Sirius could have looked like until I read OotP, and Johnny became my canon. Something to think about: I had heard Tim Burtons named mentioned in much of the gossip surronding possible directors ever since the book began the switch to the movies, and I have to wonder if we could have gotten our wish if he had gotten the job. Tim Burton works with Johnny Depp ALL the time. But I guess we'll never know....

We wouldn't have. JKR was explicit before filming PS that all actors MUST be British throughout. To my knowledge, they've never wavered from this.

I have to agree with i_amlunatonkshermione. Nobody could ever act like Sirius or look like him. We all have a different opinion, so an actor's not gonna please all of us. Gary does a very good job on it acting wise, but the looks don't cut it for me. The Sirius in my head has looks that only I can see, the personality of somebody that makes me laugh, cry, and everything else, and a complex mixture of everything else. I must say, though, some of the fanart in here hits it right on. But if I had to pick which actor(s) looks like him the most, I would have to say George Clooney with a touch of Orlando Bloom.

Is that even possible?? *confused*

I was watching an old episode of Midsomer Murders (a Brit detective series) and in the episode there was this gang of four young blokes who terrorised the posh village they lived in, two rich pack leaders, a sidekick and one quiet, smarter boy (who in the end turned out to be the killer but that's entirely beside the point..). Now, I don't really think he's all that but the bloke on the left was an instant young Sirius to me. He's Henry Cavil, lately of "the Tudors" (dunno if it's just a Brit thingy..) fame. I think he's got that haughtily handsome look down to a t. A bit of black dye in his hair and he's good to go. Incidentally, he also appears to be wearing Slytherin robes.

Here's another one, ignore the tacky top, or perhaps imagine it's his Quidditch undershirt.

Henry Cavil reminds me a bit of Kristen Bergh's version of Sirius (see our fanart gallery), especially in the second picture. I think if his hair were a bit more straight and darker, he'd look very like Kristen's Sirius.

Wow. I think Henry Cavill is tres hot in The Tudors (which FYI is actually an American show), but in those pictures you've shown...notsomuch. Funny how some people don't appeal when they look slightly different. So, definitely not my Sirius!

D'oh, I feel stupid. I only watched half an ep and it all seemed so BBC-ish that I never bothered to check it out.

I've gots to admit though, that I only think of young Sirius as classically handsome, not someone I personally would've fallen for and I don't think much of HC looks-wise, but his entire persona in that one ep of Midsomer Murders just struck me as so Maraudery.
